Spring and autumn are the best months, warm days and cool desert nights. Summer regularly passes 100°F. CES fills the city in January, and the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix runs down the Strip in November.
Beyond the Strip, the desert opens up. Red Rock Canyon is 20 minutes west. Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam and the Valley of Fire are within an hour. The Grand Canyon is about an hour by air.
Private aircraft land at Harry Reid International or at Henderson Executive, quieter and about 15 minutes from the south end of the Strip. Helicopters leave for the Grand Canyon from both.
Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas has no casino floor and its own entrance within Mandalay Bay. JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa sits in Summerlin, near Red Rock. For groups, private villas with staff.
