French Polynesia

May to October is the dry season. Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora and the St. Regis Bora Bora Resort are the partner properties, both on their own motu.

French Polynesia has a dry season from May to October, when the trade winds keep the humidity down and the lagoons are at their clearest. November to April is warmer and wetter, with the heaviest rain between December and March. Water temperature barely moves all year.

Everything routes through Papeete on Tahiti, and from there it is about fifty minutes in the air to Bora Bora or an hour to the Tuamotus. Papeete takes large-cabin aircraft and the outer islands do not, so an inter-island leg is unavoidable. We plan it as part of the day rather than as an afterthought.

Among our preferred hotel partners, Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora sits on a motu on the outer reef with the lagoon between it and Mount Otemanu, and the St. Regis Bora Bora Resort holds its own motu nearby with some of the largest villas in the country. Both are overwater properties in the original sense of the phrase rather than the marketing one.

Ask your advisor about humpback season between July and October, private catamaran charter through the Society Islands, and whether Bora Bora or the diving at Fakarava should be the centre of the trip.
