California is several destinations with several seasons. Los Angeles works year-round. Napa and Sonoma are at their best during the September and October harvest. Lake Tahoe skis from December to March, and the Palm Springs desert is warm from November to April.
The coast ties it together. Los Angeles and Malibu in the south. Montecito and Santa Barbara a short way north. Big Sur's cliffs and Bixby Bridge along Highway 1. Then San Francisco, with Napa Valley and Silicon Valley on either side of the bay.
Private aircraft move easily between regions: Van Nuys for Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Napa County, San Francisco or Oakland, Truckee for Tahoe, and Thermal for Palm Springs. Most legs are under an hour.
